Music:
Like other areas of western Ireland, Donegal has a distinctive Donegal "fiddle tradition" which is of world renown. Donegal is also well known for its songs which have, like the instrumental music, a distinctive sound. Donegal musical artists such as the bands Clannad and Altan and solo artist Enya, all from Gweedore, have had international success with traditional or traditional flavored music.
Throughout the year, every night of the week will have a music session playing in at least one of the many local pubs in the towns close to the hostel. As an added bonus, most of these sessions are free admission. Also, the lakeside center(just a short walk from the hostel) hosts concerts with internationally renowned artists throughout the summer months.
